house beautiful feature

I was interviewed by House Beautiful on inspired ways to style your front porch for fall. Fall container planting season is just about here as the weather is cooling off now and the fall plants will have a chance to survive without the scorching temperatures. Check out the feature here!

a brooklyn backyard wedding

I had the chance to design for a gorgeous brooklyn backyard wedding.
The pretty scene was set amongst the textures of brick and ivy and featured on Style Me Pretty.

floral corsages with anthropologie

I had the honor of hosting a DIY Mother's Day workshop at Anthropologie in Montclair, New Jersey last Thursday evening! In honor of Mother's Day, we made some lovely dried floral corsages. The team at the Montclair location went above and beyond to set the scene for a great group of ladies who attended. We sat cozy on their second floor surrounded by large old pained windows, exposed brick and anthro merchandise eyecandy.

First I demonstrated how to use and twist florist tape onto a stem. Then the ladies were given free reign to choose focal flowers, accent flowers, and greens for added texture to their corsages. They also had different ribbons and twine to choose from to wrap their stems and tie bows with.

The finished corsages were placed  in a box and adorned with homemade tags the ladies made.
Gorgeous photos, no?!

To say that I enjoyed myself is an understatement. It was such a fun and intimate evening! Thank you to all of the Ladies who came out and also to those at the Anthropologie store and headquarters who worked hard to bring this event to life.

All of the dreamy photos were taken by talented Casey McDaniel Photography, thank you Casey!

Long Island Wedding at an Herb Farm.

I was able to help make a beautiful organic wedding by designing the flowers for a wedding at an herb farm on Long Island, NY. It was featured on Style Me Pretty here. The photos were by the talented Love By Serena and the scene was set at the gorgeous Peconic herb farm.

The bride chose my dried bridal bouquet, available here along with the matching boutonnieres here.
I also made the centerpieces, field harvest, also available here.
The bride, Stephanie, said some lovely words : The bouquets were from Flores del Sol. They’re still beautiful and I consider them heirloom pieces.

featured in reader's digest

I've been featured in the May 2012 issue of Reader's Digest (!) . My mom called me the day she got her magazine in the mail which was right in the beginning of April and read to me what it said. Idaho must be ahead of the game because I could not get a hold of a copy in Jersey for what seemed like an eternity. I am currently vacationing in sunny south Florida and finally I ran my sandy bum into a barnes and noble and got my hands on this copy.
Check out page 35 if you get it. If not, check it out next time you are waiting in a doctors office or the check out line. Back to much needed vacationing.. no more posts until I get back!

flower ID: fiddlehead ferns

Fiddlehead fern curls. A woodland element sprucing up bridal bouquets and floral designs with organic texture and natural flair. Also called monkey tails (but not by me), fiddlehead ferns are just as popular as an unexpected item sauteed on a menu. Both fresh and dried fiddleheads are fragile to the touch due to their heavy drooping curls which are supported by thin stems. They are formed by uncurling from the center of a fern plant and plucked at their curling ripeness. Currently in my shop I have craspedia and fiddleheads for sale. I bought out the supply of dried fiddleheads locally and I am having a hard time finding more. Send good vibes my way!

ps- floresdelsol blog is now streaming on artessen, the top visual indie and design blogs. Hooray! I'm honored!
